Nigeria Dominates Para Powerlifting at 2026 Commonwealth Games
Team Nigeria celebrated a remarkable success in para powerlifting at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, clinching one gold and two silver medals. Esther Nworgu delivered an outstanding performance, winning Nigeria’s first gold medal of the Games with a record-breaking lift of 119.0 points in the women’s lightweight para powerlifting event. Her achievement not only secured her a gold medal but also reinforced Nigeria's status as a powerhouse in para powerlifting.
Nworgu's exceptional effort proved too much for her competitors, as she dominated the field and set a new Commonwealth Games record.
